Old News Updates (2004-2006)

Ok, the latest creation is available for download. Yes, for those so anxiously awaiting, it's an actual progressive metal song! It's called "Look Around You", and even though the seeds were set for this early in the year, an actual recording has taken shape in the last week. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Grab it from the MP3 page under band, or here. Enjoy.

Added a new tune called Looking In. I've been messing around with the program called Reason, and this track goes well with concept James and I have had of "Skyborg 2012". Let me know what you think.

10/02/06
Made some changes. Added fancy little galleries to the pictures section, as well as some new pics of the rig, and of myself. Also added a gallery to the funny section, making it a little easier to read, and more funnies available as well. Enjoy.

I just wanted to use this space to give a big ultra super special THANK YOU to Jay Cagide. You are one of the most caring, thoughtful, generous, and inspirational people I have had the honor of crossing paths with. My sincerest thank you for ALL you have done for me. Words cannot express. It means the world to me.

Well, I gave the site another facelift. Let me know what you think.

Recorded some new tracks. A solo guitar piece called Victory , which was just kind of a nifty little thing, and my latest work Wherever It Will Go . It's kind of an 80's style power ballad. I warn you, it's catchy. Super special thanks to Jennifer Marie for some helpful feedback very early in the creative process, and for making an awesome image to accompany the tune Wherever It Will Go artwork by Jennie . Give me some feedback!

12/02/05:
I added some tracks to the MP3 page, including old X-21 stuff, band stuff, the latest band stuff with Mike Blair and the concept project that is underway, and some of my solo work from the last few years. I posted 2 new solo songs as well. "Remember" and "Undone". Check them out from here or from the MP3 page. Let me know what you think!

11/13/05:
Ok, I upgraded my webhosting. I now have significantly more space for stuff here (I had it pretty much maxed out). So, in the near future, expect more pictures, more music (YAY!!!), and some other new stuff as well. Also, probably some tweaking with the layout, as I'm getting bored with the layout. However, I don't have that many ideas. Let me know if you have any ideas on what you want (or DON'T want) to see here. Ideas for content and layout are always welcomed.

09/10/05:
Alright for those (im)patiently waiting, here is a little snippit of something I'm working on musically. It's very rough mix-wise, tone-wise, playing-wise, etc., but at least it proves that I'm working on something! Give me some feedback. Click here for a sample of "Dark Secret"

09/05/05:
Ok, major rework here. I did a pretty drastic website design overhaul. Overall, it should be spiffier, more intuitive, basically better and nicer. Please let me know what you think good or bad. Feedback is always welcome! In other news, I am no longer a Sam Ash employee, and I am pursuing teaching private guitar and bass lessons full time in the central New Jersey area.

08/09/05:
I did some revamping on the site. I FINALLY added some pictures and made it user-friendly-ish. I hope you like! Included are recent pictures of myself and my rig, taken about 2 weeks ago by one of my co-workers/fellow musician Ken Limeri. I also added easier to find download links to my demo songs.

07/12/05:
I finally posted some stuff on my MySpace page. I put up some pics and info, so you can check that out here.

07/08/05:
I posted some pics of my "new" car finally. You can see them under pictures and the latest update, or simply click here.

03/23/05:
After finally getting some more space here, I have posted all of the tracks from the Jake Skylyr Demos CD for download here. Just go to music, Jake Skylyr solo, Jake Skylyr Demos, and pick which song you want. Where it used to say "click here for a sample", it now says "click here to download". I've meant to do this for a while, and now it's finally here. YAY! I hope that helps those of you who don't have my CD.

03/07/05:
I know I know, long time no update. Way too long at that. So, I guess a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR is in order!

As far as matters personal, things are going steady. As always, check my LiveJournal for the latest info on the personal aspects of my life. I've been working a lot as usual, and also giving guitar lessons on the side. The most important news is on the musical front. After many, MANY years, a keyboard player has made his way into my musical expeditions. The amazing Mike Pignataro has been discovered, and is the newest addition to the Borgese-Skylyr project. I guess now we REALLY need a band name! (Any ideas for a name would be greatly welcomed) More details on this terrific news can be found under Music.

12/05/04:
I added a History section to the Borgese/Skylyr section under music. This way you can see where I'm at musically with it, how it got started, and my expectations and desires for this musical adventure. If you think it sounds a little glossy, then you realize how positive I feel about it. And anyone who knows me well, knows it's very uncommon for me to be that way about things that personal to myself. All I can say, is expect great things soon.

12/04/04:
To those who have been patiently waiting, I have made a few minor updates to the site. I modified the "Music" section a bit to help differentiate the different projects I'm currently working with. Also to help make a place to put info about the new band I'm working on forming with the monster of a drummer James Borgese. I also have announced the temporary hold placed on "The Seven Seize". I'm focusing pretty much on the new band, and solo stuff is on the back burner right now. There will be more Borgese/Skylyr information posted soon, I promise. Thank you all for being patient as I try and get things together. As always, let me know what you think.

10/07/04:
I added some stylings and such to the "The Seven Seize" section under music. It's incomplete, but it's a step. Let me know what you think.

10/02/04:
I FINALLY finished putting all of the info for each song in the Demos section. Now you can all finally know what I sort of meant by each song. I also put the track number next to each, so you know which song is which. I also added SYNthetic Man's site to my links. I've known him a long long time, and if you like the Useless Text here, you'll love his stuff as well. Click here.

Thanks to SYN, the possibilities of forming a band are becoming much more of a reality. Thanks to him, an old friend may be partaking of bass-slinging duties. A fellow co-worker has expressed interest in the drum & percussion end of things. Another fellow co-worker is interested in the frontman duties. I have to admit, this is the direction I wanted to be a part of, and a big reason as to why I'm back home. Keep your fingers crossed ok? More details as they arise.

09/25/04:
Well, some updates here. I finally added a guestbook to the site, so you can "participate" in my little nugget of madness. I slightly updated my Bio and added my most recent pic, so you can actually have some proof that some of the content here is marginally recent.

Just to be sure that it is covered here, I am finally back home now, living in Union Beach, NJ with my best friends Vin and Connie. Despite some major car troubles, everything is going well. I am working for the newest Sam Ash music store location in Springfield, NJ (on the infamous Route 22). Also, I have been working 50-70 hour work weeks there for about a month and a half. So, I came out here to try to work on my music, and I'm working even more hours and have even less time for it. Figures, huh? It should only be temporary though. Plus, a music store environment is one that allows me to be me, so that is a plus.

There are plenty more improvements in store here, as well as more content. I'll get to them as soon as I can, and thank you all for putting up with me and being patient. I truly appreciate you all, and I intend to make this a site that is worth your while and a worthy thank you.

09/13/04:
I know, I know....it's been way too long since I've updated. I actually still have to do that. However, in the meantime I did create a LiveJournal to keep anyone who is interested updated on what is going on with me in my everyday personal life. You can find that here. I will be posting some stuff here, as soon as I find some time.

07/19/04:
I wanted to give a very special thanks to everyone who made my "Jake's Going Away Party" on 7/16 everything that it was. I had this fear that very few people would show up, and the ones who did would not have fun. (Extra special thanks again to Lei for EVERYTHING!!!) You all made it what it was...AWESOME!!! I am going to miss you all very much....

07/03/04:
Well, it is officially official...I am moving back to New Jersey at the end of this month. Yes, I am going home. I have put in my 2 weeks notice at work (despite the fact that Monday marks 4 years with this company). I must admit that I really am going to miss all of the wonderful people that have wandered onto the path of my life here in Tucson. But this is a move that I know that I have to make. Everyone who knows me, knows that this is what I must do. Plus, the opportunities that the east coast presents musically are far superior to the lame excuse for a music scene in Tucson. Tucson friends, fans, and family, I will miss you all and thank you for everything. New Jersey....I'm on my way and will be home soon!

04/26/04:
I added some more stuff, and neatened a little bit. I added the Links section, some Useless Text, as well as the My Immortal info in the Music section. I humbly apologize to those who are anxiously awaiting updates and new stuff. I have been very strapped for time and attention as of late. I plan to keep up with it as best as I can, so please be patient (all 3 of you! =^) ).

04/09/04:
Well, if you hadn't already noticed, I gave the site a slight facelift. I made a few new buttons, did a little reorganizing, and other neato-ness of that nature. It is by no means the way I want it to look yet, but it is a little neater and user-friendly (I think), so I hope you like.

There is a working "look" to Seven Seize now. Also in the music area, "More Than A Dream" has been posted for download. As always, feedback, praise, criticism, etc. is always welcome.

04/08/04:
In between working way too many hours, I'm currently working on my second CD. This may come as no real news to some of you. However, the fact that I've come up with a tentative title may. Yes, the project that in so many conversations has been referred to as "Jake Skylyr Disc Two" actually has a working title. It will be (for now)
Jake Skylyr - The Seven Seize. I currently have 3 tracks recorded for it, with 2 more that are ready to be recorded as well (if time was only on my side...). After some mental inventory of my ideas that I have kicking around, I'm rather certain that it will not be too hard to gather enough material for this disc. That is a very good thing indeed... =^)

04/04/04:
Click here for Dessajo's rendition of Evanescence's "My Immortal" (right click and save target as to download). Further details on this track can be found inside in the "Music" area.

I've decided that it's way WAY overdue for me to post something here other than Useless Text. I plan on getting a nice, neat, purty layout and such, but until then, I can't just leave it like this. So...plan on a major revamp in layout and such, and remeber that this will be a "rough" layout in the meantime. But I'll actually have a bit of content or something. I hope this tides you over for now, and let me know if you have anything you do/don't want to see, or if there is anything you like/dislike. ROCK ON!!! \\nn//
