Customized Ibanez RG7321 7 String
This guitar originally belonged to my ex-girlfriend's older younger brother's girlfriend's brother (got that?). In 2006 or so he stopped playing guitar and decided that he would sell off his stock black RG7321. My sister bought it, had my dad disassemble it to fit into a suitcase, and brought it out to NJ from AZ. I decided I was going to make it white, so while disassembled I began to strip the paint. This was a bigger task than I expected, but luckily I stumbled upon some assistance.
My student Jon Ferretti's father Jim had access to paint and a paint area, and had experience painting guitar bodies. He informed me that he had genuine cop car white paint. The whitest paint you could mix. This was perfect for my vision, so I let him have it. I got a black headstock decal for it, and it was made uber white.
Upon completion, I ordered white Dimarzio Blaze II pickups (to match my Universe), and dyed the fingerboard black to complete the monochrome white/black look. It is currently wired with the stock 5 way switch, but that is subject to change.
In 2011 I upgraded the tuners to Planet Waves Auto-Trims. They only come in sets of 6, and are not sold individually. But their customer service is amazing and overnighted me an extra tuner to complete the set at no charge! Now THAT is customer service!
This guitar hasn't been featured too much in my recordings yet. I mainly use it as a backup to my Universe for live shows. But being a fixed bridge, it can be easily used for alternate tunings, and will probably get more usage recording rhythms as well. It has a a very neat look to it, and is pretty fun to play as well.
