Project X-21

X-21 is the name given to the mass insanity that emanates when Shaun and I get together for some "wankage" (see explanation here). As of late, this is not too often. But there is a limited, yet...um....interesting catalog of X-21 mayhem-ness.

A bit of history, Shaun and I met in mid 1998 while we were both working for a security company (which shall remain nameless, so neither one of us is too emabarassed). This company referred to the patrol supervisor as Unit 21. When I met Shaun, he was "21". Shortly after he left the company, I was promoted to "21". As we both left the company, and our positions as "21", we determined that we were both ex "21"s, hence X-21. We thought X-21 would be a cool band name. But we had a problem....no band. We decided (all on our own) that a band must have at least 3 members, and that less than 3 equals a project, not a band. We were 2, so Project X-21 it was. Plus, even if we were a band, we would still be kind of a project anyway, but that's another story....

So, our "catalog" contains a wide variety of insanity. There's a neverending piece that is one of the first things we wrote together that is currently about 15 minutes long, and seems to lead it's way in and out of everything else we do. We sometimes jam to a few Jake Skylyr tunes, most notably Reinvention and Opus. There's a cover of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" (aka Lesbofest 2001....don't ask. Really.) But mostly we make random progressive rock/fusion/virtuoso noises.

X-21 sorta ended in 2004 when I moved back to NJ. But with the internet, and us both being geeks, there was always the possibility that insanity could ooze back out at any time. Actually, it was inevitable...

As of mid 2009 Shaun and I will be slowly but surely piecing together a "masterpiece-esque" rendition of ELO's masterpiece album "Time" via internet collaboration. Sickness shall resume with the aid of technology. (We never said we chose EASY tasks :-p) I can almost smell the geekiness "Just on the border..." :)

Scary thing? We've already got a head start on the first 2 tunes... :)

X-21 Pictures

Here are some unofficial X-21 photographs to tide you over until....well, I don't know. But they'll have to tide you over until something does or does not happen. Kinda...

***DISCLAIMER*** These pictures are circa fall 2001. Just so you know...

That's Shaun and I in the old "X-21 Studio", which was the dining room of my apartment at the time.

A look at the weapons of mass destruction.

As you can probably imagine, things could get rather silly. This is proof. As if you needed it...
